Services Provided by ABA Scotland

ABA Scotland uses the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to develop, implement and monitor an individualised learning programme to assist your child to reach their full potential. Working closely with you as a family, and other professionals who are involved with your child, ABA Scotland aims to ensure that your child develops skills to enable them to be as independent and successful as possible.

Details of the individual services provided by ABA Scotland:

Specific Skill Development or Behaviour Management

If you are looking for assistance with one or two specific skill areas (such as requesting, self-help skills, etc) or problem behaviours ABA Scotland will work with you to develop an individualised plan for your child.

Full ABA/VB Programme Services

  • Initial Assessment & Programme Development: ABA Scotland uses the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) to assess your child's skills across a number of areas such as requesting, listening, visual, play (independent and social), imitation, vocalisations, reading, writing, and maths. Your child's programme is then tailored around those areas which are highlighted as requiring additional support in order for your child to close the skills gap with their peers. I do not specify how many hours a week your child should undertake. The time devoted to ABA has to be realistic to you as a family taking everything into account, such as age of child, nursery/school time, weekly commitments, etc. Your child's programme areas are prioritised according to available weekly time.


  • Initial Training Workshop: Used to introduce the theoretical elements of ABA and provide practical hands-on experience of the specific elements of your child's programme. Full day with training manual, programme documentation, and certificate of attendance provided.


  • Follow-Up Workshops: These are important and held to review your child's progress and introduce new areas to their programme. Follow-up workshops are also used to discuss any issues or concerns you may have and implement potential solutions. The frequency of follow-up workshops are determined by the individual programme requirements, but not more than once a month.


  • Nursery & School Liaison: Where applicable, liaise with your child’s education establishment
